The "Poop your pants trail"

Before we went to Xi'An Janai and I saw pictures of a crazy hiking trail in China. Basically the pictures showed people on a cliff that is thousands of feet high shimmying across on a what looks like a sketch piece of wood with only a chain to hold you into place (solamente in China). Anyways, we had no idea where this mountain or trail was, but it looked super scary, which also made it look super fun. So... when Janai and I found out that this trail was at Hua Shan (where we would be going) we both wanted to do it. I do not know what the actual trail is called, or even if it has a name, but we started calling it the "poop you pants trail" because it looked so scary that we were sure we would do just that after completing it. Alas, after 6 hours of climbing the steps of Hua Shan we finally found... and here is the proof that we did it.

Oh, there are pictures of the normal trail to show you how ridiculously steep it was. The steps were crazy small and parts we almost straight up. It took us 11 hours to get up and back. Of course we stopped for lunch and to take in the views, but my calves, quads, and just about every part of me was hurting the next day. The poop your pants trail was something you had to pay to do and was not part of the normal trail, although some of the normal trail was pretty sketchy. And, in case you are wondering, we did have a harness.

Some of the best pictures I have seen of the "death hike" as some web sites say. I'm planing on visiting HuaShan in September and was wondering if you stayed at any of the hotels on the mountains or is it just as ez to shuttle to Huangshan for the 4-5 days I will be there. Also, do you rent the harness? Thanks for sharing the pictures.
